A passionate group of men and women joined together by their love of nature and gardening in Mayfield, Kentucky, the Pearl of the Purchase.
The Laurel Oak Garden Club was organized in March, 1963 and federated in April, 1964. It's purpose is to gather together garden lovers for the study of horticulture, to promote artistry in flower arranging, home decoration and landscape design, to aid in the protection of all natural resources, and to encourage conservation practices in the home, community and state.
In addition to maintaining the gardens around the Icehouse Gallery, the LOGC is involved in a number of projects throughout our community, including:
The Gardens at the Graves County Public Library
Dollars for Scholars Fund for Youth Training Programs
Hospitality Stations for the Annual Kiwanis BAM! Bicycle Tour
Kess Creek Monarch Butterfly Way Station
Landscaping at Harmon Park
Gates at the Highland Park and Maplewood Cemeteries
Wyatt Drive Crepe Myrtle Ravine
Graves County Courthouse and Lawn
Sunflower Project for the Community's Schools
The LOGC hosts an annual tour of notable gardens in the community along with a luncheon and plant sale. The Club also stages group field trips to major botanical gardens in Nashville and Saint Louis. The Club members meet monthly; interested gardeners can contact the Icehouse Gallery to be connected with a Garden Club sponsor who will escort them to the next meeting.
