Kenneth Earl Tyler was born in August 1953 in Mayfield, KY and has been a lifelong resident of Graves County. He grew up on a farm doing farm work. After graduating from Lowes High School in 1973, he attended Murray State University where he studied social work. He was employed with West Kentucky Allied Services for many years until his health began to deteriorate.
It was not until 2007, at the age of 54, that Kenneth started making art as a form of therapy. His first works were clay figures, but soon he began to incorporate repurposed materials, found objects, and gourds into his whimsical sculptures.
In the few years Kenneth has been active as an artist he has made a name for himself by selling his work throughout the region, winning awards, and being in multiple group and juried shows each year.
This particular solo exhibition features scores of colorful figures, many of which Kenneth describes as having a “60’s and 70’s theme.”
The exhibition runs May 6 – 31, 2013. An opening reception is planned for May 9, 6 – 8 p.m.
