Call to Artists

The Icehouse Gallery is issuing a “Call to Artists” for this year’s “Arts in the Community Show.” This is the Gallery’s annual open community exhibition featuring works by visual and literary artists from throughout the local area. The deadline for delivering artworks to the Gallery is 8 pm, Thursday, July 30^th. The exhibition opens on the following Tuesday and continues through August 29^th. The Icehouse Gallery is a family-friendly environment; we welcome all kinds of artwork and will only reject works that are deemed obscene or offensive to the viewing public. The Gallery will exhibit as many works as space permits. This is the opportunity for artists of all levels of expertise to have a venue for showing their works.

Artwork must be framed and must have the hardware attached that is required for hanging. Poetry and other literary works must be framed as well. Sculpture must either be free-standing or have a base on which to display it on the Gallery’s pedestals. Artists need to contact the Gallery if their works are unusually large or if there are special requirements involved in displaying them.

There is no charge for displaying the artworks in the Community Show, and participants need not be members of the Art Guild. The exhibition is open to all age levels. For additional information, contact the Gallery at (270) 247-6971.
